What that hosting plan actually costs you

Advertised prices are the first year. This works out the real three-year bill for an Indian business — renewal price jump, 18% GST, input tax credit, and the forex markup your bank adds to dollar invoices. Nothing is sent anywhere; the arithmetic runs in your browser.

What the headline price hides

How this is calculated

Renewal jump. The intro price applies for the term you set; every year after that uses the renewal price. Most three-year quotes are two years of intro pricing followed by a bill that doubles.

GST. 18% is added where you say the invoice carries it. If you are GST-registered it is then subtracted again as input tax credit, because you recover it. If you are not registered, it stays a cost.

Dollar invoices. Converted at the rate you enter, plus your bank's forex markup, plus 18% GST charged on that markup fee. None of it is recoverable, and there is no Indian tax invoice to claim against.

What this does not include. Exchange-rate movement over the period, migration time, or the cost of downtime. It also assumes the renewal price you were quoted holds, which is not guaranteed — renewal prices are reviewed by hosts, not fixed by contract.
